Arrow Lake is located in "prairie pothole" country on the main North American flyway for Snow Geese and Lesser Canada Geese. There is also a heavy population of resident Giant Canada Geese… it is essentially a goose hunting paradise during the waterfowl hunting season. The terrain is laden with plenty of feeding grounds and watering holes so the habitat is ideal for all waterfowl including Mallard, Pintail, Northern Shoveler, Common Goldeye, Bufflehead, American Widgeon, Redhead, Ring-Necked Duck, Lesser Scaup, Wood Duck, Blue-Winged Teal, Green-Winged Teal, Gadwall, Ruddy Duck, Canvasback, and Blue Geese. Successful hunts are an everyday occurrence.Whitetail Deer Hunting
Arrow Lake is located on the southern slopes of Riding Mountain National Park. The Park is a no hunting zone so game moves freely back and forth. The area hunted is all private land, which is wooded with alfalfa fields south of the Park transitioning into farmland as you continue further south. Some of the bucks grow to a very old age because of the low pressure hunting in the area. The rack size seen is in the 125 to 155 range or larger.
